| Download1. Avast Home Edition 2. Avast Home Edition is efficient for most home users and it's suitable for companies with small networks, though you'll have to install Avast Home Edition on each computer that's situated on the network. The program is complete with a large virus database, a Resident scanner, a Peer-to-Peer scanner, a Web scanner, an Email scanner, and it's equipped with a firewall. If you find that Avast Home Edition slows down your computer, you can eliminate some of the scanners that are draining your computer. If you're sure your computer is virus-free, turn off the Resident scanner. If you don't use peer-to-peer services and you don't trade files over the Internet, disable the Peer-to-Peer scanner. If you can weed out infected emails from authentic emails, disable the Email scanner. You can disable most, or all, of the scanners, as long as you continuously update the virus database, keep the firewall running, and scan your computer for malicious software often. Avast Home Edition is definitely the right choice. It's the best of the three Avast free antivirus programs and it's one of the best antivirus programs of any type, free or paid for.
